My Style: Business in the Front, Party in the Back

Ella Cocos Tea Party Hair

No, my hair hasn’t grown five inches in the space of a week (wouldn’t that be amazing?). The My Little Pony hair you’re seeing in these photos isn’t my own. Naturally, I’ve been wary of extensions ever since Britney went off the rails in 2007, but I finally decided to give the Hershesons clip-in ponytail a go, and I absolutely love it! It’s so swishy that whenever I wear it I can’t stop playing with my hair. As you can see…

Hershesons Ponytail 2

The epic ponytail actually ties in nicely with the whole ‘business in the front, party in the back’ vibe I have going on here. Karen Millen’s white shirt is office-appropriate, but the dip-hem back in blue and white stripes keeps it interesting. And my Dessine-moi un soulier heels feature a playful glitter heel, perfect for impromptu parties.

If I had a traditional desk job I’d totally wear this look to the office  – with tailored trousers instead of jeans – but as I mostly work from home I wore the ensemble to eat veggie burritos at Whole Foods instead (as you do).

Clip-in extensions tip: To get the right colour match for your hair compare the ends of the extensions to the ends of your hair. Never go ends to root, as your hair naturally gets lighter towards the ends.

Do you rate this look? How would you style Karen Millen’s sleeveless shirt? And are you also a fan of clip-in hair extensions? Leave a comment and let me know…

Thanks Maz for helping with the photos!

ooohhh your ponytail looks so chic! I got a hersheson long plait a few years ago (which you had the option to wear as a super long pony too) but i found it a bit difficult to put on myself so never got much use out of it and now that i have a pixie crop I probs won’t use it. I really like the length of yours, really suits you xx

      Thanks Lola!

Although I’ve never tried them I don’t think they are for me..They do look great on you though and your outfit is very chic too. Perhaps i would carry another bag! xoxo

    Love the top! x

As I’ve already said, I love that top so much- very cute and sailory (yes, I think I just invented that word…) with the stripes. And who knew glittery heels could look so chic?!
Likewise, I’ve always been too wary to try extensions but that looks really natural and I’d so been swishing it all day! Going the opposite, booked in to get a Robin Wright- esque crop in a month, getting lazy in my old age, can’t be bothered with the bob anymore…

    • cocos_tea_party

Oh wow! I LOVE Robin Wright’s haircut. I’m guessing House of Cards inspired you?

      • Abby

Well, watched a film with her in called Adore but was already tempted by the crop in House of Cards. And if I get a bit Machiavellian like her, watch out world…!
