“Make it Happen in 2014″ iPad Air Prize Draw

iPad Prize Draw

How are you getting on with your New Year’s Resolutions? Everyone tends to have a blip midway through January, so if you’re looking for a bit of motivation you’ve come to the right place. Apparently we’re more likely to complete our targets if we share them with others, so Lloyds Bank have just launched a Facebook app called “Make it Happen in 2014″, where people are encouraged to share their goals for the New Year on their timelines.

My goal for 2014 is to commit to a weekly yoga class (I have a habit of attending one or two classes and then giving up). Working on a laptop 24/7 has wreaked my posture, and I constantly suffer from back and shoulder pain, so I really need to start taking better care of my body. I challenged myself to practise a 10-minute yoga routine on YouTube every day throughout December, and I stuck to my mini-goal. Now I’m attending weekly classes and also keeping up with my daily stretches. Hopefully I’ll keep going throughout the year!

And, as extra motivation to stick to your resolutions, there’s an iPad Air 16gb (Wifi only) up for grabs. Simply use the Lloyds Bank ‘Make it Happen’ app to pledge a goal on Facebook (there are three sections to chose from, with different targets like, “this is the year I move out of my parent’s house” and “this is the year I make my money go further”) and then leave a comment on this post to enter the prize draw.

The prize draw is open to UK residents only and all entries must be in my midnight on February 6th, 2014. CTP will be selecting one winner at random, and the prize will be supplied and posted by Lloyds Bank. Full full terms and conditions please click HERE. (FYI: The iPad photographed is my iPad mini. The winner of this prize draw will receive an iPad Air)

My main goal for 2014 is to really start saving up for all the ‘things’ I want to do or achieve in life and things I want to buy. To do this I am setting up the bank account to pay an amount every month straight into a savings account. The plan is to not touch that money and keep saving till we actually really need to use it on the things we really want to spend it on … family holiday, house deposit.

I could use the iPad Air to set up my wedding inspiration Pinterest board and really have some fun planning it all!!

  • Helen Allan

My husband and I have never had money that’s stretched any further than life’s essentials but this year things are starting to look up and I would like to put our extra money aside for two reasons: Firstly we would love to have an amount of money set aside for anything unforeseen. This would give us a tremendous amount of peace of mind knowing that this is there to fall back on. Secondly, I would love to be able to put some money aside for the future of our children; whether it’s for university or their first car, it doesn’t matter what but just knowing that I will be able to help them on their own journey warms my heart… So this is the year that I save for a rainy day!

  • Donna Kent

    My pledges are three fold.

This is the year I invest my money wisely

This is the year I start my own business

This is the year I move in to the house i really want

All in all, this is the year that we become self sufficient. We are
currently trying to sell our house. Once that small detail is taken care
of, we will hopefully be moving to a pile of rubble with 4 acres. You
may think that this sounds crazy but its what we’ve planned to do for
years. We’ve patiently sat out the recession waiting for our house to
build up enough equity for us to be able to fulfil our dream.

The plan for 2014 and 2015, is for both of us to continue with our
jobs while we put money aside to rebuild the property that we hope to
buy. While doing this we also hope to get our fledgling business off the
ground. We know its going to be hard and we know that we’re probably
going to hit a few road blocks along the way but with some very careful
financial planning and a strong work ethic we know its going to be a
    very successful year.

The ultimate goal is to have a small but perfectly formed home with
enough land to live a sustainable life. We hope to have a business that
fetches in a modest income and time to be able to give back to the local
community, specifically teaching children about the importance of plant
    life in the eco system.
