It’s no secret that I’m a huge Sarah Jessica Parker fan, so it’s surprising that I didn’t know about the 12-part documentary series she produced for AOL until I read about it on A Cup Of Jo. (Note to SJP, this is why you should use Twitter more). City Ballet premiered this fall, and takes an intimate look at the competitive world of the New York City Ballet. Sarah Jessica narrates the series, which is split up into bite-sized 6 minute episodes, and it’s absolutely brilliant!
Forget all memories of Black Swan and put City Ballet onto your weekend watch list – I promise you won’t regret it. It’s impossible not to have mad-respect for the dancers’ discipline and athleticism. I’ll never watch a ballet in the same way again… And lucky for me I’m actually going to The Nutcracker next week with Birchbox. We’re being treated to a backstage tour at the Royal Opera House, so if I’m able to I’ll share photos etc I’ll do so next week.
View the first episode after the jump and click here to watch the entire series. I binged on all 12 episodes at once and now regret working my way through it so fast!
Watch City Ballet online now at AOL. Have you already devoured this series too? Or are you saving it for the weekend?
