Last month I visited Linz, in Austria, to create my own pair of Titan Minimal Art glasses at the Silhouette headquarters. Those of you who wear glasses will probably be familiar with Silhouette already, as they’re famous for their lightweight, rimless styles. And even if you have perfect vision you’re sure to recognise their ad campaigns, which currently feature Cate Blanchett and Patrick Dempsey. I’m short sighted and have to wear glasses or contact lenses all the time, so it was a real treat to get the chance to create a pair that are completely unique to me.
The wonderful team at Silhouette talked me through all the different design options, and eventually I settled on a classic style with clear lenses and silver metal. I’ve always preferred wearing gold to silver, but after a consultation with their colour expert it became clear that the silver rims were much more flattering on my skin tone.
You can watch the process below, but a word of warning first: I look horrendous in this video. Security at Frankfurt airport was so badly organised that I missed my connecting flight to Austria and had to spend a sleepless night in Germany before boarding the first flight out to Linz in the next morning. So let’s just say I wasn’t feeling my best…

And make sure you keep an eye on the Silhouette Pinterest page as I’ll be pinning some special Christmas images throughout December. And I’ll also be taking over their Instagram account for one week in December, so make sure you’re following @silhouette1964.
Plus, Silhouette are currently running an amazing competition where you could win a lifestyle makeover with celebrity stylist, Hannah Teare. Hannah was behind these fabulous Disney ads and has styled for US Vogue, Vanity Fair and Tatler, among others. Click HERE to enter.
