7 Fall Beauty Must-Haves: Introducing Old and New Favourites

I’ve always hated the cold, so autumn fills me with dread as I know an endless supply of miserable weather is on its way. However, there are a few things I love about fall: the new season TV line-up (hello Scandal and Nashville), Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Lattes, burnt orange leaves lining the streets and the Autumn/Winter beauty collections. It’s always nice to update your makeup bag with the change in seasons, and here are some of my favourite fall beauty products for 2013…

Fall Beauty 2013 Must Buys

Over fashion week I discovered the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Crème Compact with SPF 20 UVB and UVA protection (£33). Left to my own devices I never would have tried a compact tinted moisturizer; but the Laura Mercier team were stationed at The Apartment, this season at LFW, and they quickly got me hooked on this product. The creamy moisturizer gives nice coverage that’s easy to build up, and leaves my skin looking super healthy. I know the idea of a tinted moisturizer in compact form sounds odd, but please give this a try next time you pass a Laura Mercier counter – I think it’s brilliant!

Estée Lauder Nail Lacquer in ‘Chrome Violet’ (£14.50) is another recent discovering. The metallic purple-y shade is new for Autumn/Winter and is surprisingly flattering. I’ve been alternating it with my longstanding favourite fall nail polish: Tom Ford ‘Bordeaux Lust’ (£26).

I’ve also recently returned to one of my favourite makeup looks: ’60s-inspired liquid eye liner. The style never feels right in the summer, but I always enjoy wearing a bold cat eye flick come September. I use MAC’s Gel Paint Pot (£15) with their Small Angled Brush (£16.50) to create this look. But as I’ve just finished a paint pot I’m thinking about giving Bobbi Brown’s Long–Wear Gel Eyeliner (£17.50) a try, for a change. Which liner is your favourite?

Along with liquid liner I also love to create pink, rosy cheeks for Autumn/Winter. Smashbox O-Glow Intuitive Cheek Colour (£21) is one of my favourite blushers. The clear gel cleverly turns the exact shade you blush when applied, creating a really natural look. I also adore Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balm (£2.99) – as you all know – which are perfect for keeping chapped lips at bay.

Finally, I always like to try a new fragrance for fall, and lately I’ve been using Estée Lauder Modern Muse eau de parfum (£44). The jasmine, citrus, vanilla, amber and musk scent isn’t something I’d usually go for, but I’m trying to step out of my beauty comfort zones and so far am enjoying the change. Shockingly it’s been 10 years since Estée Lauder last had a major fragrance launch, so Modern Muse is a pretty big deal. Expect to see (and smell) it everywhere for the next couple of months…

Which beauty products do you always have in your makeup bag for Autumn/Winter? Let me know your favourites…

Creme de la Mer, the original cream; Bobbi Brown BB cream…these 2 give my skin a healthy glow….Laura Mercier ‘moi” rouge nouveau lip colour (closest to a Chanel red I used to have)

I’ve never tried Laura Mercier lipsticks, surprisingly. I’ll have to give them a try next time I pass a counter.

they are really nice, picked mine up at bloomingdales in nyc….nice texture and good with mac mahogany liner on top if you want to make a more earthy red

I’ve been using the Bobbi Brown eyeliner for a while now and I love it. Stays in place all day long, so I don’t have to worry about smudges.

Sounds good! I’m definitely going to give it a go.
