The Chocolate Walking Tour That Turned Into a Picninc in the Tuileries Garden #NextInParis

Pierre Herme Paris

I have a real weakness for chocolate, so I was giddy with excitement when I discovered Next had booked a Chocolate Walking Tour for our second day in Paris. The sugary adventure was supposed to take us to four different destinations, but after eating our way through the first two stops on the tour we decide to hold an impromptu picnic in the Tuileries Garden instead. Because why bother walking when you can sit on a bench and tuck into a chocolate eclair, right?

Luckily I think the two chocolatiers we did visit were the very best. First we stopped at Pierre Hermé (where photography is strictly banned) for a salted butter caramel macaron and a rich dark chocolate. Then we walked around the corner to Angelina where we ordered take-out hot chocolates and a selection of desserts for our picnic. I’m not exaggerating when I say the Angelina hot chocolate was like heaven in a cardboard cup! It was basically like drinking melted chocolate…

See more from our Parisian chocolate adventure after the jump. It gets even sweeter, if you can believe it….

Angelina hot chocolate is amazing! I like it that they have a white chocolate one too. Pierre Herme is definitely the best for macaroons, but La Patisseries des Reves is worth a try too.

Oooh I didn’t know they did white hot chocolate too. I’ve never tried that before, so will have to visit again next time I’m in Paris. It sounds like it would be overly sweet though, I have to say…

Yeah, I think a whole jug of white hot choc would be a bit sickly, but we ordered one of each and tried both. I’ve heard they’ve just opened a new Angelina on the Left Bank.

    J’adore Pierre Hermé!
By the way I like the color of your nail polish, can you please tell me the name brand and the color name?
    Thanks :)

      Hi Catherine.

The polish isn’t actually mine, it was applied on a shoot because they didn’t like my bright orange nails, so I don’t know the shade name. I’m pretty sure it was a Revlon polish though. Sorry I can’t be more helpful.
