British Vogue’s April 2013 cover has just been released online and it features yet another model. This shouldn’t really be news, should it? A fashion model covers a fashion magazine. But it is. Celebrities have dominated the newsstand for over a decade and it’s interesting that UK Vogue have suddenly gone for a change in direction.
Kate Upton covered their January issue, Kati Nescher posed for the February edition and Cara Delevingne made her Vogue debut in March. And, of course, there was the December 2012 cover, which featured Natalia Vodianova. So the fact British model Edie Campbell was snapped for the April 2013 issue is really something! UK Vogue are all about models once again, but they’re not making a huge fuss about it. This appears to be a genuine (and rather thoughtful) move for the publication and I wonder how long it will last…
And If models do continue to snag all of Vogue’s covers, this year, can it please be Jourdan Dunn’s turn next? As personally I think she deserves the recognition more than Edie, Kate and Kati (this is a #justsayin moment).
Are you pleased to see another model on UK Vogue’s cover? Do you like Edie Campbell’s ’60s-inspired shot?
