Mulberry’s ready-to-wear collections consistently get stronger as each season passes, and Autumn/Winter 2013 was possibly their best yet. The show took place this morning, at the usual location: inside the Ballroom at Claridge’s. The hotel entrance was decked out with a beautiful butterfly display, and guests tucked into bramble berry breakfast muffins while they waited to take their seats. It’s always a treat to spend the morning at Claridge’s hotel, and this season there was a lot of subtle “oohing” and “aahing” as fans of BBC 2′s Inside Claridge’s spotted General Manager, Thomas Kochs, mingling with guests in the hotel reception.
Inside the ballroom Alexa Chung, Lana Del Rey and Juno Temple eagerly took their seats on the front row, whilst Anna Wintour sat opposite in her trademark-sunglasses. The show kicked off to the cheerful tune “All I Want Is You” from the Juno soundtrack, and the first look to hit the runway was a midnight blue boucle fisherman coat. I instantly fell in love with the relaxed fit and classic check print – and the rest of the Autumn/Winter collection continued to impress!
My favourite items were the elbow-length leather gloves, which were worn underneath short-sleeved jackets; the chunky roll neck knits; and the pleated leather skirts (particularly the bottle green number). I do, however, feel this post needs to come with a disclaimer, as these images don’t really do the collection justice. The dark colours haven’t photographed so well and you can’t see all the detail. But trust me, once you see these pieces in real life you’re going to want everything. Start saving now or you’ll regret it! That I promise…
And, to make the morning even more special, guests at the Mulberry Fall 2013 show all left with a bag full of chocolates wrapped up to look like ladybirds. It’s the little details like that which make Mulberry such a fun and engaging brand.
