This season, whilst I waited for the Burberry Fall 2013 show to begin I checked my emails and found a message from Christopher Bailey. “Hi Ella,” the email read. “Welcome to the show and thanks for joining us. I’m really pleased you could be here in Hyde Park with us. Hope you enjoy it! All the best, Christopher.”
I’m sure Christopher Bailey doesn’t actually have the time to email every guest attending the Burberry Prorsum show – he’s a busy man, after all – and it was most likely an intern masquerading as the brand’s Chief Creative Officer. But it’s all the little details like this which make Burberry the main event at London Fashion Week.
The Autumn/Winter 2013 show was a very classy affair. Presented at the usual location, in Kensington Gardens, the collection was inspired by sixties style icon and former model, Christine Keeler. A creamy, camel trench coat with a gold trim was the first look to hit the runway, and it set the tone for the entire show. As usual, the outwear was the highlight for Fall 2013, but there was also a strong focus on evening wear. So you can expect to see Burberry’s presence on the red carpet increase dramatically this year. Here’s a selection of my favourite Burberry Fall 2013 looks – it was very hard to narrow it down, this season, but the heart prints and leopard trench coats came out on top:
If you missed the livestream you can now watch the show in full on YouTube (click here), which includes an exclusive performance from Tom Odell. And, yes, the Fall 2013 collection really is called “Trench Kisses”. Isn’t that so adorable?
