Rooney Mara covers the February 2013 issue of US Vogue. Rumour had it Kate Upton was about to make her cover debut, but I’m actually quite relived to see it’s Rooney again (she also covered the magazine in November 2011). The 27-year-old actress was photographed by David Sims and I’m 99% sure she’s wearing a Calvin Klein Collection dress. It’s pretty and very nineties, don’t you think? But a real shame the cover lines are running across her face.
And, if you’re wondering why Rooney Mara is on the cover of US Vogue for a second time, it’s because her latest movie, Side Effects, is in cinemas soon. Rooney plays a woman who “turns to prescription medication as a way of handling her anxiety concerning her husband’s upcoming release from prison.” Channing Tatum and Jude Law co-star.
Originally Blake Lively had the role (and knowing how much Anna Wintour loves her she would also have scored this cover), but there was an issue with one of the film’s investors disliking her, and in came Rooney. Drama, drama, drama!
