Tim Walker is one of my favourite fashion photographers, so I was very excited to attend the preview of his latest photo exhibition, Story Teller, at Somerset House in London. Story Teller officially opens to the public tomorrow (October 18th) and I seriously recommend you make a visit. The exhibition, which is sponsored by Mulberry, brings together a carefully edited selection of Tim Walker’s photographs, and the giant, eye-catching props which are specially constructed for his extravagant editorials. Here’s a preview:
“Sometimes when you’re taking a picture an extraordinary sense of luck and chance takes over and propels you to make pictures that you couldn’t in your wildest dreams have imagined. This is the magic of photography.” – Tim Walker
I was blown away by the exhibition, and will definitely go back for a second look. My personal highlights included the double-bass-playing bumble bee/fly and the portrait of Grace Coddington. Two completely different subjects, but both perfectly capture Tim Walker’s sense of humour. See more after the jump…
Check out the accompanying book, Tim Walker Story Teller, which is currently £29.95 at Amazon
The Story Teller exhibition runs until January 27th 2013 and admission is free. Find more information on opening times etc HERE. Are you planning to make a visit to Somerset House for this exhibition?
