I must start by pointing out the facts: Alice in Wonderland wasn’t Michael van der Ham‘s inspiration for Spring/Summer 2013. Officially he looked to Spanish painter, Joan Miró. But I came away from the designer’s London Fashion Week show thinking of Lewis Carroll’s iconic character. Sure, the prim white Alice bands, worn by every model, helped draw the connections, but Michael’s signature collage dresses had a lovely dreamy and free-spirited feel, this season, which also made me think of Alice’s Adventures.
I would love to see Lana Del Rey, Kirsten Dunst and Sarah Jessica Parker in the Spring 2013 collection!
This is definitely a S/S collection worth taking inspiration from. Start mixing textures and prints – if you’re not doing so already – and invest in a neat little Alice band. They’re back in fashion, thanks to MVDH!
Are you a fan of Michael van der Ham’s SS13 collection? Does it remind you of Alice in Wonderland too?
