Maison Martin Margiela with H&M – A Closer Look at the Line

During my stay in New York, earlier this week, I was able to see the entire Maison Martin Margiela for H&M collection up close. The menswear, womenswear and accessory collections hit stores globally on November 15th, so it was great to see everything in person ahead of the official launch. All of the pieces in both the men’s and women’s collections are re-editions from the MMM runway archive, with the tattoo print top referencing Maison Martin Margiela’s first ever collection, back in 1989.

Members of the Maison’s PR team were on hand to talk press through the collection, and they spoke of how difficult it was to narrow down the edit of archive pieces. They’ve struck a perfect balance though, with a great mix of eveningwear (there’s a fabulous LBD with a diamante belt), daywear (the oversized coats and tailored jackets are the real investment pieces) and attention-grabbing OTT fashion items (the sweet wrapper clutch bag is expected to fly off the shelves). This is a truly amazing H&M collaboration!

My personal favourites from the MMM for H&M collection are the perspex heels, the glove handbags and the trompe l’oeil tops. There’s also a fabulous leather jacket in the mens collection, which is made up of different coloured belts, that is so cool! I’ll definitely be hunting for a XS size to see if would work well in my wardrobe. See more images after the jump…

Would you wear Maison Martin Margiela for H&M? Which pieces from the collection are you favourites?
