As part of Coach’s VFNO activities (taking place on September 6th: you’re all welcome) I was asked to customise one of their Legacy Duffle bags. I haven’t customised anything in years, so the challenge was a little daunting – especially as the leather Duffle bag is gorgeous as it is, so I didn’t want to ruin a classic design. In the end I decided to keep it simple and play to the bag’s timeless design. I selected a contrasting camel strap and matching leather tassel, which I then embellished with delicate crystal gemstones. After all, I do love a bit of sparkle…
The DIY embellishment was incredibly fiddly but very easy to do. All you need to recreate the look is a small packet of gemstones (I picked up a selection for 95p at a bead shop), hair pins and some glue. I used UHU, as a costume designer friend said that would work best for this task, but any fabric or all purpose glue should do the job. The rest is pretty self-explanatory…
And, ta-da, you have your very own embellished leather tassel! Easy peasy lemon squeezy…
