Christopher Kane’s Frankenstein-Inspired Spring 2013 Collection

I nearly missed the Christopher Kane show on Monday because the traffic in London was so bad. I’m sure you can imagine the panic – Kane’s collections are not something you want to miss! Thankfully I made it just in time to see his Frankenstein-inspired Spring/Summer 2013 designs hit the runway. The show started with stark white pieces: leather biker jackets worn with matching pencil skirts, crisp pinafore dresses and loose trouser suits. It was unexpected.

Then came the colour – a sherbet pink followed by a bright yellow – and the usual ‘that shouldn’t work but somehow it does’ elements we’ve come to expected from London’s hottest designer. The fastenings on dresses and jackets looked like nuts and bolts (explaining the Frankenstein inspiration), whilst the finale dresses were covered in crystals and lace that appeared to be stuck on with black duct tape. Minus the tape these would make fabulous red carpet looks…

I’m tempted to start saving up for one of the pinafore dresses, as I’m not sure the high street will ever come close to matching Christopher Kane’s brilliance. They’re just too good!

Were you a fan of Christopher Kane‘s S/S 2013 collection? Which looks were your favourites?
