A Trouserless Situation at Marc Jacobs’ S/S 2013 Show

I know, I know… Fashion can be so cruel. Just when every influential designer, magazine and store has convinced you trousers “are back” Marc Jacobs puts out a collection that doesn’t feature a single pair of pants. Personally I think it’s quite funny, but I haven’t just spent a small fortune on statement trousers – and now I probably won’t bother. Marc Jacobs has always been a fashion leader, so if he says it’s all about the skirt (or, in some cases, nothing but a pair of knickers) that’s the way the season will roll. Here’s a look at his trouserless S/S 2013 designs:

Other than the noticeable lack of trousers, the Spring/Summer 2013 collection was all about the ’60s. There were monochrome stripes, A-line coats, pointed-toe patent heels, scalloped hemlines, ruffled collars and few playful bursts of houndstooth and animal print.
I like this Marc Jacobs collection a lot. It feels lighter, and therefore younger, than previous seasons. You can expect to see Alexa Chung in the A-line coats with ruffled collars pretty soon, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it also inspires a sixties moment in Lady Gaga…

Do you like Marc Jacobs’ Spring/Summer 2013 collection? Are you already missing trousers?
