Whitney Port Covers Company’s September 2012 Issue

Whitney Port covers Company‘s September 2012 issue. The star of The Hills and The City spoke to the British publication about her own label, style icons and interning horror stories. Her cover snap isn’t my favourite, but I love the accompanying editorial – which you can see a taster of below.

Here are some exclusive snippets from Whitney Ports’s Company magazine interview. For behind the scenes videos and more details click HERE. The new issue hits newsstands on August 7th.

Whitney on her style icons…
I’ve always loved Princess Diana. I think she was chic, classic and willing to take risks considering the life she was living. I love Diane Kruger, Alexa Chung and Rosie Hungtington-Whiteley. Rihanna is hot too. Oh and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Whitney on British style…
When I first came to London, I was in awe of the girls walking down the street. They looked like they had just stepped out of a fashion shoot, with such a cool mix of prints, colour and texture – especially in east London. When you’re from LA, it’s easy to get stuck in that jeans and t-shirt look, but being in the UK has encouraged me to take more risks. I’ve tried to be a little more street and edgier. I wear my Doc Martens and leather jackets more.

Whitney on being the perfect intern…
I’ve just hired my first two interns this summer actually. I always notice the girls who have a great attitude and will do whatever it takes without necessarily having to be asked. Interns shouldn’t be afraid to take a stance. If they’re shot down, they’ll learn but for the most, a good company will be one that accepts your input. The worst thing you can do is talk too much! There’s a balance between being involved and lingering too long.
Whitney’s interning horror stories…
When I was working at Teen Vogue, we were doing a photoshoot with an actress, who shall remain nameless, and I had to moisturise her. Then I had to massage her feet and they were gnarly! It was at the beginning of my career so I did it without saying a word. It’s just what you do, but it was gross.

Do you like Whitney Port’s Company magazine cover? Do you agree with her interning tips?
