5 Fashion Statements Synonymous with the Spice Girls

Pictures of the Spice Girls rehearsing for their Closing Ceremony performance at the London Olympics have been floating around on Twitter all day. It’s really happening ladies! And whilst they may not be wearing custom Giles Deacon, as previously reported, they will perform on top of black cabs, so you just know it’s going to be amazing! To get into the spirit here are five of their most iconic style statements – most of which I doubt they’ll be rocking on Sunday night…

1. The Union Jack. Who could ever forget Geri’s barely-there Union Jack dress (made from a tea towel) which she wore at the 1997 Brit Awards? It will forever be part of fashion history…

2. The Little Black Gucci Dress. Rumoured to actually be a Miss Selfridge number, Victoria’s “Little Black Gucci Dress” had a starring role in the Spice World movie. Totally chic!

3. Leopard Print. Because Scary Spice wouldn’t be so scary without lashings of animal print…

4. High Kicks and Peace Signs. Start rehearsing these signature Spice Girl moves to prepare for Sunday’s performance. Nothing says Girl Power like a high kick and peace sign. Nothing.

5. Platform Shoes. Mel B favoured OTT leopard and snakeskin platform boots, Emma stuck with her trusty platform trainers and Geri loved to rock vampy patent platforms. Only Victoria and Mel C were wise (and lucky) enough to escape this horrific trend…

Are you excited to see the Spice Girls perform together again? Who was your favourite Spice?
